This gorgeous coin ring is hand-made from a Barber Silver Half Dollar, (1892-1915), and is flush set with a 2 mm Grade AA Ruby, a 2.2 mm .04 CT S12 Diamond, and a 2 mm Grade AA Blue Sapphire.  It has been antiqued to show off the detail in the coin.  This beautiful ring has been made with the heads or obverse side of the coin on the outside of the ring.  The last two pictures show a Barber Silver Half Dollar Coin before it was made into a ring.

This ring has been named the "Red, White, and Blue Coin Ring," and has 13 stars that go all the way around the band.  The 13 stars on a Barber Silver Half Dollar represent the 13 original colonies of The United States, and this coin was once known as the "Liberty Head Half."  It is a beautiful patriotic piece of jewelry.

History of a Barber Silver Half Dollar Coin, (1892-1915)

Designed by Chief Engraver, Charles E. Barber, (1840-1917), the Barber Silver Half Dollar Coin was introduced in 1892.  Barber modified the large head used on a Morgan Silver Dollar Coin by adding a liberty cap and cropping Lady Liberty's hair to be shorter in the back.  Lady Liberty is also facing the opposite direction from the Morgan Silver Dollar.  Charles Barber then placed his initial B on the base of the neck.  This design was used not only on the Half Dollar but the new dime and quarter as well.

The reverse side of the coin depicts the Great Seal of the United States, and shows an eagle with outstretched wings, holding an olive branch with thirteen leaves in its right claw and a sheath of 13 arrows in its left.  There is a ribbon with the motto "E Pluribus Unum" being held in the eagle's beak.

In 1916, no half dollars were produced and the Barber coinage would give way to a whole new era of coin designs.  During the total run of 24 years, just fewer than 136 million Barber Silver Half Dollars were produced with no mint producing more than 6 million in any given year.  For comparison, a John F. Kennedy Silver Half Dollar produced over 400 million in one year, and that is more than double the entire series of the Barber Silver Half Dollar Coins.  This makes the Barber Silver Half Dollar Coin rare and more sought after by collectors.
